Over the past decade, globalFEST (gF) has become an international brand and one of the most dynamic global music platforms in North America. What started as an annual 3 stage, 12 band festival/showcase has become a catalytic world music event building audiences for world music with stages at SXSW, Bonnaroo, Lincoln Center and beyond, creating cultural opportunities and collaborations for artists worldwide.gF highlights artists who represent diverse musical styles ranging from traditional to contemporary, and everything in between. gF is also a year-round non-profit service organization for cultural curators, global music artists, and the performing arts field. It administers the gF Touring Fund, curates year-round stages, produces a gF On the Road tour, provides assistance to artists interested in expanding their presence in the performing arts field, and encourages cultural diplomacy and cultural understanding.
globalFEST’s mission is cultural, social and political. It aims to bring down boundaries between countries and create cultural opportunities for individual artists and for governments, sponsors, scholars and critics to collaborate. Tours and cultural exchanges that result from globalFEST¹s showcases have helped to build an ever widening audience for world music and, by extension an increase in international cooperation and collaboration.
